I know, I went to this workshop in November- but I feel like I have been non-stop since then, and never had a chance to go back and edit my photos from the trip.  The workshop itself was amazing. I am sure all of us in our lives have someone in our industry who we admire beyond all else.  For me, thats Jasmine.  I have stalked her blog, I have watched her podcasts, I have read and re-read her posts.  I kept telling Mark when she did workshops, I HAD to go.  Well, last June, the first one she did, sold out in an hour. Then she did another in August, which was right when the kids went back to school {and also sold out in an hour}. So, in September, when she blogged that she would be doing one more workshop in the US in 2009, I knew I was going. I still remember getting back my email confirmation- I was ECSTATIC!

The workshop focused mainly on branding and business.  We photogs spend so much time perfecting the photography side, but its the business side that keeps us behind the lens! Without a business, we have nothin’! The J* workshop is a huge part of the blog makeover.  Stay tuned for more changes to come- I am hoping they will all be live early July! I am so excited for my branding changes- although I have to say they are more refinements. We spent so much time at the workshop discussing our style- and Jasmine really pushed us to look at our work, and fine tune our brand to match what our shooting style is. In all honesty, I feel like it has taken the three years I have been in business to know what my style is. It took alot of soul searching, and a lot of pestering friends, family, and colleagues, but I think I am there! Stay tuned for the unveiling…

I met some fabulous photogs at the workshop, and feel like I got an amazing oppurtunity to not only meet one of the major rockstars of wedding photography, but to refine my business model, and my style.  It was such an awesome opportunity- I just wish I had more time in Orange County.  Here is Jasmine’s post- take a peak, you can see me at the workshop. I can’t wait to shoot my first wedding on Saturday with the new video feature.  This bad boy is so big and so heavy- I need to start lifting more weights {wait, that assumes I lift at all} to be able to carry this beast for 8 hours! Remember when you could stay up and chat for hours about the boy you have a crush on {ok, so this part applies to all my female readers}.  Well…last week I got to do all that again- except the late nights were not spent discussing boys, but something far more enticing, invigorating, and FABUTASTIC- I talked photography! And not just for minutes, but HOURS and HOURS! Andi Diamond, Edie Black, Christine Nicole {Links below} and I all got together for another slumber party. Some of you may remember we all got together last February for a conference in Atlanta.  Well, we did it again in Nashville last week and it was so much fun- and exhausting.  I think we were in the Nashville Opryland convention center from 7AM to 8PM, then would get dinner {and talk about what we did all day} and then went home and talked MORE! I think I slept 20 hours over 5 days! Needless to say I was exhausted when I get home- and sick too- and you know the VISA got a workout!  I got some fabulous new equipment- I will blog on that as it comes in- I cant wait! I also saw some amazing new products, ideas and photographers.  It is so invigorating to my business to see new ideas- I had a blast!

To my Nashville girls- thank you for yet another fabulous event! I am not sure how we all ended up together again, but you guys make q LONG conference worth every minute! Here is to FUPALS, giggles, late nights, sushi, SUSHI, and more sushi, twittering, and tweeter, and SKEETER, running red lights, heavy coats, GLOVES {wait…where did I put those}, hours & HOURS of tradeshows, the “Christine and Kelly Conference- coming to a city near you”, BIG CHAPPED LIPS, NG, up is in 4 2010, iflow, Red Pony, and the 5 funnest photography days EVER!!!

Yes, its snowing there today- and a high of 20! As if its not cold enough here! I am so excited though, not only do I have 4 days of education, and 4 days reviewing all the newest albums, canvases, papers, lenses and photographic equipment for the studio {I promised Mark I would limit purchases, lol} I get to meet up with some fabulous photographers buddies! Andi Diamond of Andi Diamond Photography, Edie Black of Edie Black Photography, Christine Ryan of Christine Nichole Photography, Robyn Osten of Robyn Osten Photography, Joy Vertz of Shoot the Moon Photography Teri Mason Photography. Overall its an awesome experience- I went to Tampa in 2007- and I cant wait to get together and enjoy some cocktails, and conversation with some incredible women!

The Conference runs from today through Tuesday, January 12th, and I will be returning on January 13th. The studio will return to normal business hours on Thursday, January 14th at 9AM. If you need to reach me before then, email is the best way to get me {as my i-phone seems to be back on track- WOOHOO}.

Its that time of year where I post the end of the year slideshow with some of my favorite images from the past 365 days.  It always amazes me how much some the children have grown, couples who have said “I do”, and even my own kids. I cant believe the year is done…it just FLEW! Of course, I am trying to remember where the last decade went!  If you really want to shock yourself…think about where you will be in 10 years! Hunter will be done with college, and Cam will be attending, Ash will be a Senior in High School, and Haylee will be a freshman! And as mark pointed out to me today…he will be approaching 35 {which means I will TOO}! It’s amazing when you really think about how fast time does go by.  Ok..as sappy as I am, I now need to wipe my tears…

To all my utterly fabulous clients- Thank you for the MOST AMAZING YEAR! Thank you for trusting me to photograph your pregnancies, your new babies, your toddlers, your teens, your special days, your I-do’s and all your moments in between.  It truly is the most incredible job in the world!
